Linux Exposed!

(1.)   Linux is Free if you don't value your Time.

(Remember, Time is more valuable than money.)

Not every famous software is available for Linux. So, you have to search for it and waste your time on websites, forums, repositories etc, to look for the alternatives & again waste some more time to choose the one that gives a performance even matchable  to the famous non-available ones to some extent. Hence a lot of time WASTED!!

So, by the end of installation & integration etc steps of those less efficient, Not-so-famous alternative applications in your Linux computer, you might see the guy next to you doing the same the job with his Windows PC or Mac, might have even done the task which required that software & gone home.

(2.)   A Hell-lot of Geeky Stuff.

Since, not every software is directly available for every Linux distribution or even in its repositories. Therefore to install any such kind of software, you need to go through a series of really geeky stuff. Therefore if you are a technologically-challenged guy or have a fear of things or terms like Terminal, Source-code Tarballs, Bash-commands etc. It's going to be really challenging and mentally-taxing for you. So, agree to it or not, Linux hasn't been able to be as user friendly as Windows, Android or Mac, hence, not used by the masses.

(3.)    Fooling the old Computer or Netbook user.

Although such kind of guys get relief by a lightweight (cut-down) distribution of Linux. But since such kind of distributions are cut-down ones. The user gets restricted (in a way) or even trying to install varieties of softwares because of missing libraries or dependencies which are hard to find. (as in cases of Puppy Linux, Trisquel Mini, Tiny Core Linux etc.)

(4.)   Conquerable Fear of 'Viruses'.

Linux has always marketed itself as being safe and not prone to viruses as windows & it does so only by complicating the installation of softwares, which just annoys most of the Common or Not-so-Geeky people. But if you are windows user & follow all safety measures & rules, update regularly, install softwares form Microsoft store & remaining (if needed) from legitimate or official websites only of respective softwares, who the hell is going to dump viruses into your computer.

If you are a normal user who just uses web browser, use the most secure ones like Brave Browser etc, with the security behaviour changed to 'hard' or 'advanced' in settings & enable 'Firewall' in your computer.

If someone's only aim in life is to trouble his computer with viruses, even the Mac might not be as secure for him, forget about Linux.

(5.)   Privacy Myth

What sort of Privacy? If privacy for you is something related to visiting banned websites, watching porn etc, which eventually is, for most of the people, use VPN, Proxy, Incognito mode, Privacy friendly search engine like Brave, Startpage, Duckduckgo etc.

But if you don't go by these ways, then even if you are using Linux, your privacy will be no more Private!
